Yoho Votes to Rebuild and Strengthen our Military
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) released the following statement after he voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for the fiscal year 2019.
“The defense of America is paramount above all else and our military is the finest fighting force in the world. Without a strong defense, the freedoms and liberties we enjoy are vulnerable. Unfortunately, for well over ten years our personnel have been stretched thin around the globe and our equipment is showing signs of fatigue. For our military to defend our freedom at home and abroad, they must maintain a high level of readiness and have reliable, up to date equipment.
“With today’s vote, we are making sure our military can operate at the highest level and defend our nation against the growing threats we face. With this funding, we are investing in training, upgrading aging aircraft, replacing battered army equipment, and strengthening our Naval fleet to name a few. This bill also reforms defense agencies that hinder our military’s flexibility. I am proud to say that 4 of my amendments were accepted into this bill. Among them was my EQUIP Ag Act which directs the Secretary of Defense to carry out a priority equipment purchase program of DOD excess farm equipment to eligible veteran farmers. Providing for the common defense is the U.S. Government's number one job. We have done that today and I hope this is signed into law quickly.”
