YOHO VOTES TO PREVENT FRAUDULENT PAYMENTS
WASHINGTON, DC, SEPT 12TH – H.R. 2775, “The No Subsidies without Verification Act,” would prohibit the government from providing any insurance subsidies until a program that can fully verify an applicant’s eligibility is put in place. This legislation is in response to an announcement by the Obama Administration that it would no longer verify the eligibility of applicants, but instead rely on self-attestation and sample audits. The legislation passed the House of Representatives 235-191. Congressman Yoho is a cosponsor of the bill.
Regarding his vote Congressman Yoho said, “The fact that the Administration does not plan to not verify if applicants for subsidies actually qualify is outrageous. It is scary how much this Administration thinks it can frivolously spend American taxpayer’s hard earned money. This is yet another example of the legislative malpractice in the Affordable Care Act. I am not in favor of the ACA but every law should have measures to increase accountability to prevent against fraud and abuse. ”
