YOHO VOTES TO PAY FURLOUGHED WORKERS
Congressman Yoho voted in favor of two pieces of legislation to ensure that furloughed federal employees recieve pay. Both pieces of legislation seek to provide retroactive pay to federal employees furloughed as a result of the government lapse in appropriations. The bills, which passed overwhelmingly in the House of Representatives, have not come to a vote in the Senate.
Congressman Yoho said, "I felt certain the Senate would have approved one of the bills to open the government so that we wouldn't be paying people not to work. The Senate hasn't done that, which isn't the fault of the furloughed workers. I understand these are extraordinary circumstances and that is why I voted for their pay both times the measure has come to a vote in the House. Though, admittedly, the idea was that the Senate would have ended the shutdown by now."
