Yoho Votes to Modernize Physician Payment System

Press Release
CBO estimates HR 4015 will decrease direct spending by $31.1 billion over 10 years

Washington DC  – Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) voted for the SGR Repeal and Provider Payment Modernization Act – HR 4015. The bill will repeal the current sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and replace it with a permanent solution to address physician payments in the Medicare program. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that enacting H.R. 4015, with an amendment by Ways and Means Chairman Camp, will decrease direct spending by $31.1 billion over the 2014-2024 time period.

“Today I voted to provide certainty to Florida seniors -who rely on the Medicare program- and the doctors they visit. Repealing the outdated sustainable growth rate formula will give seniors piece of mind that they will have access to their doctors and it ends physicians wondering if they will be reimbursed at a reasonable rate. Physicians will see certainty to plan for the future, in addition to an annual 0.5% increase to reimbursements,” Rep. Yoho said.

The bill has the support of over 100 co-sponsors, 18 Members of the House Doctors Caucus and 600 national and state organizations representing physicians and other professionals.

“Delaying the health care law’s individual mandate - for five years - will free up funds to pay for this repeal. Recently the Administration said they are extending certain exemptions from the individual mandate for two years. This will just take it further and give the people of Florida relief from the mandates of the current health care law,” Rep. Yoho concluded.
