YOHO VOTES AGAINST OVERLY BROAD PATENT LEGISLATION
Congressman Yoho voted against H.R. 3309, patent legislation that would have harmful effects on universities and make it harder for entrepreneurs to compete.
After the vote Congressman Yoho said, “I’ve heard from constituents from all over the District who are not in favor of this legislation. Getting rid of patent trolls is a noble goal and absolutely needed, however, this legislation is overly broad and would make it harder for independent inventors, universities, and entrepreneurs to compete. We need to unleash innovation in this country, not stifle it. The Constitution very clearly tasks the Federal government with the duty of protecting inventors and ensuring they have the exclusive right to their discoveries. Unfortunately, this legislation would harm the very inventors it intends to protect. ”
