Yoho Statement on Withdrawing from Iran Nuclear Deal
Washington, D.C. - Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) released the following statement after President Trump announcement that the United States will withdraw from the flawed Iran nuclear deal.
“I applaud the president’s decision to withdraw from the one-sided Iran nuclear deal, resume economic sanctions, and work on a better deal for America and the world. Iran’s ambition to obtain a nuclear weapon may have slowed for a period by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), but let’s not be naïve, they are determined to obtain a weapon of mass destruction.
“It is no secret that Iran is a bad actor in the Middle East. They are a state sponsor of terror in the region, and no agreement has curtailed their nefarious activities. The nuclear deal signed under the Obama Administration was flawed, and the billions of dollars that were returned to Iran have been used to expand their reach and activities in Syria and around the Arabian Peninsula. I hope our allies realize a better deal needs to be negotiated and they will support our efforts to make that a reality.”
