Yoho Forms Third Congressional District Student Advisory Council
GAINESVILLE—Congressman Ted Yoho (FL-03) announced today the formation of the Third Congressional District Student Advisory Council.
Students were nominated to serve on the Student Advisory Council by high schools both public and private within the Third District. To serve on the council, students must be between the ages of 16-19, display an active interest in their local community, participate in extracurricular activities or hold a part time job, and maintain a high grade point average. Of the 52 high schools in Florida’s Third District, 40 have selected participants.
The Third Congressional District Student Advisory Council will meet with Congressman Yoho at least once a quarter to share ideas about legislation, views on current events, and ways everyone can make a difference at the local level. Additionally, the Student Advisory Council will take an active lead in bringing the Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project to the Third District.
Congressman Yoho said, “I ran for Congress to protect the American Dream for future generations. These students are the future generation, and I look forward to hearing their thoughts on how we can make our community and our nation stronger.”
The first meeting of the Third Congressional District Student Advisory Council will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 3:00-6:00pm at Santa Fe College in Gainesville.
