Yoho Asks For Shinseki’s Resignation

May 23, 2014
Press Release

Washington D.C. – Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) sent a letter to Secretary Eric Shinseki of the Department of Veterans Affairs asking him for his resignation. Congressman Yoho gave a brief statement following the mailing of the letter:

“The decision to ask Secretary Shinseki to step down does not come lightly. I have a great amount of respect for his military service. However, there is a sacred trust between a veteran and the nation they risked their lives to protect. Ensuring that our veterans receive the care they need should be the foundation upon which the entire organization is built.  The misconduct that has occurred at the VA broke that trust, and we owe it to our veterans to ensure accountability and justice.”

*Other Florida House members signing the letter asking the VA Secretary to step down were: Steve Southerland, Dennis Ross, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Richard Nugent.
