Yoho Applauds SCOTUS Decision In Favor Of Religious Liberty
Washington, DC – Today the Supreme Court ruled in favor of religious liberty in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. and Conestoga Specialties Wood Corp. v. Burwell. Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court decisions today.
“Today’s 5-4 decision is a victory for all Americans who support religious freedom and the rule of law. The Court ruled what we have known all along, that the contraception mandate imposed by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) flies in the face of religious freedom. Under this ruling, the Green and Hahn family businesses, under the protection of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), are able to operate in accordance with their religious beliefs.
“The Government should never be able to tell private business owners to go against their moral and religious beliefs in order to pay for insurance coverage for drugs that cause abortion or birth control devices. I applaud today’s decision for the parties that brought the suit before the Court and for all Americans who will benefit from this decision. This Supreme Court decision also illustrates the continued flaws and the illegitimacy of the ACA aka Obamacare. That is why I will continue with every vote I have to dismantle, repel, and replace this despicable law and stop Obama’s transformation of America.”
