Rep. Yoho Votes To Stop Federal Overregulation
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor of H.R. 427— the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS). This bill would require congressional approval for all federal regulations that have an economic impact of $100 million dollars annually. President Obama has said he will veto this bill. Congressman Yoho issued the following statement after his vote:
“With thousands of federal regulations being issued every year, many of them are choking off the economic potential of America. One of the biggest complaints I hear from people in my district, is that it is harder and harder to grow a business - let alone conduct day to day operations - with all the new federal regulations being implemented by this Administration.
“Some regulation is necessary to set the boundaries for business and safety. However, overregulation snuffs out the fires of the entrepreneurial spirit and suffocates job creation - which in turn hurts our economy. With so many regulations being implemented every day, week, and year, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over businesses large and small.
“Regulations should be written and reviewed by the individuals who were voted into Congress by the people they represent. Not a room full of government bureaucrats who are disconnected from the people who are in the trenches everyday trying to make a better life for themselves and their employees.”
