Rep. Yoho Votes to Protect the Unborn and Place a One Year Moratorium on Funding for Planned Parenthood

Sep 18, 2015
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor of H.R. 3134: Defund Planned Parenthood Act and H.R. 3504: Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.  HR 3134 will place an immediate moratorium on all federal funding to Planned Parenthood and its affiliates for one year, while Congress conducts a full and complete investigation into the organization’s activities. H.R. 3504 will provide for criminal penalties for medical personnel who violate the Born-Alive Infants Protections Act of 2002, by making it a federal crime to fail to provide standard medical care to children born alive during an abortion. Congressman Yoho released the following statement after his votes:

“When it comes to the issue of abortion and defending innocent unborn children, my vote will always err on the side of life. I personally believe that life begins at conception, and the life of all unborn children should be protected.  I also believe that taxpayer money should not be allocated to organizations, like Planned Parenthood, that promote the termination of unborn children.

“It is misleading to say that a vote to defund Planned Parenthood is an attack against women. *There are numerous alternatives in the form of community health centers that provide more services and quality health care for women. Planned Parenthood can still exist as they do now. This will not shut them down. They just will not have access to taxpayer funding.
