Rep. Yoho Votes To Invest In America
Washington D.C. – Congressman Ted Yoho (R-FL-03) voted in favor of H.R. 4660, Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2015. The bill, which is one of twelve annual appropriations bills, will fund the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other related agencies.
The Congressman released the following statement after his vote:
“My yes vote is a vote to invest in America. This appropriations bill will make our country stronger by investing in science and all the important research that goes on within those agencies. It is time that we rebuild America and this bill will help start that process.
“While this bill funds important programs, there was room to make acceptable reductions in spending. I voted for amendments that would cut $1.3 billion in spending. It is important to invest in America, but we must make sure that our investments are done in a fiscally responsible way.
“Other amendments I voted for would prohibit funds from being used by the Department of Justice (DOJ), to prevent states from implementing their own state laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession, or cultivation of medical marijuana. Medical marijuana is a states’ rights issue and should be left to them. Also, I voted to prohibit funds from DOJ’s Office of Justice Programs-State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance from going to Sanctuary Cities. If cities are going to circumvent U.S. Immigration laws, they will not be able to do it on the U.S. taxpayers’ dime.”
