Democrat Anti-Semitism Resolution Misses the Mark
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) released the following statement after the House voted once again to condemn hateful ideologies including anti-Semitism following offensive comments by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mn.):
“The resolution presented by Democrats to address the repeated anti-Semitic remarks made by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) failed to mention her name or her comments in the text of the resolution. My colleagues on the other side of the aisle decided to water down this resolution to the point that it didn’t condemn the anti-Semitic remarks that forced Speaker Pelosi to bring it to the House floor in the first place.
“Anti-Semitic speech is unacceptable, and it must be suppressed whenever it rears its ugly head. To present a generic resolution that rationalizes this type of speech lessens its significance.
“The Democratic leadership should hold Rep. Omar to the same standard they demanded of Congressman Steve King. Also, they should remove her from her committees. Anything short of removal would be hypocritical on their part. The Democratic Party is quick to chastise, condemn and demand actions against a Republican member of Congress whom they claim is a racist even after he apologized. When it’s one of their own, they lack the political courage to do the same.”
