Congressman Yoho Supports Alternative to Obamacare
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted Yoho, DVM (R-FL-03) is an original cosponsor of House Budget Committee Chairman Tom Price’s (R-GA-06) bill H.R. 2300, the Empowering Patients First Act. Chairman Price – a medical doctor – crafted a bill which will fully repeal Obamacare and implement a new doctor-patient centered solution.
Congressman Yoho has been a vocal advocate for the repeal and replacement of Obamacare since taking the oath of office as a Member of Congress. Yoho gave the following statement:
“I acknowledge a good number of Americans have received healthcare coverage under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). However, Obamacare’s one size fits all approach to changing our nation’s healthcare system has been a disaster and is unsustainable. I firmly believe we can do better.
“Five years in, individuals across America are feeling the law’s adverse effects, misguided policies, and burdensome mandates. As someone who has seen his healthcare premiums more than double, the law failed to deliver on its famous promise of, ‘if you like your health plan, you can keep it.’
“The Empowering Patients First Act is a common sense approach to transitioning Americans away from a less access, less quality, and fewer choices system, to a patient centered healthcare system. Patients and their doctors should be in charge of important healthcare decisions, not the federal government. Obamacare is legislative malpractice at its finest and should be replaced. After living with its broken promises, it is time to replace it with a law that provides choices to quality healthcare, is affordable, responsive, and accessible to all Americans.”
