Bipartisan VA Reform Bill Signed into Law
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ted S. Yoho (R-FL) voted for the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act on June 14, 2017. Today, that bipartisan bill, which will improve the care our veterans receive, was signed into law by the president. Congressman Yoho released the following statement:
“The bill signed into law today will improve the care our veterans receive and so richly deserve. After hearing the stories of mismanagement in the VA and the testimonials from veterans in my district, I am confident the bipartisan bill we passed, that is now law, will improve the VA.
“It will do so by streamlining the complicated process of removing, demoting or suspending VA employees for poor performance or misconduct. It also ensures that whistleblowers within the VA, who shine a light on any misconduct, are protected from retaliation.
"Today is a victory for veterans and their families. It is also a positive example of what can be achieved when both Republicans and Democrats come together for our veterans and the common good."
