US Congressman slams China for Xinjiang genocide, says 'they should not be allowed to host 2022 Olympic Games'
US Congressman Ted Yoho called brutal persecution of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang as genocide saying Beijing should not be allowed to host 2022 Olympic Games.
New Delhi: What's happening in China's Xinjiang is genocide, said US Congressman Ted Yoho adding that Beijing should not be allowed to host the 2022 Olympic Games due to systematic and brutal repression of Uighur Muslims.
Yoho, who is a ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, further accused the Chinese Communist Party of implementing a nationwide campaign to brainwash, torture, rape, and sterilize the Uyghur and EastTurkic population with impunity.
Yoho’s statement comes after Uighur Turks and other Muslim communities in China urged the United Nations and other international organisations to put pressure on China and investigate the acts of genocide perpetrated against their community.
Xinjiang witnessed one of the most widespread human rights violations
A recent report titled “Genocide in East Turkistan” has accused China of the oppression and persecution of Uighur Turks and other Muslim communities for its own political and economic interests despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is using COVID-19 and China’s early recovery from the pandemic for its expansionist drive all over the globe. From external encroachment and internal consolidation, the aggression displayed by China shows its ambition to test the international resolve.
